Here's What We're Learning
This Week’s Lesson: “Surprise! Jesus Is Alive!”
The people in Jesus’ day were expecting a very different kind of Savior. Many believed the Messiah would arrive as a powerful conquering king who would overthrow their enemies and take control of the government. Instead, Jesus came humbly. He healed the sick, loved the outcasts, served others, and ultimately gave His life on a cross. That wasn’t the kind of king they expected. SURPRISE!
Even though the cross surprised the people around Him, it didn’t surprise Jesus at all. He knew exactly why He came to earth. Long before it happened, Jesus told His disciples that He would suffer, die, and then rise again. The cross was part of God’s rescue plan for the world. But the biggest surprise of all came on Easter morning. When the women arrived at the tomb expecting to find Jesus’ body, they were greeted by an angel who announced the greatest news in history: Jesus was not dead anymore. He was alive! In this lesson, kids will discover that Jesus was the surprise the world needed, and His resurrection is still the greatest reason to celebrate today.
Power Verse: ““The angel said,…’You are looking for Jesus…He isn’t here. He has been raised from the dead.’” Matthew 28:5-6
