What to Expect

Q:  What type of church is First Assembly?  

A:  First Assembly belongs to the Assemblies of God.  Our services are a blend of traditional and contemporary worship styles.  We worship God wholeheartedly, and we teach the Bible in a creative, compelling, and relevant way.

Q:  When are your services?

A:  We have three identical Sunday morning services, at 8:30, 10:00, and 11:30 AM.  Our Christian education classes (Sunday school) also meet at those times.  Our Sunday evening service is at 6:00 PM.  Our midweek service is on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.  The House is our service geared for young adults.  It is a contemporary service in a relaxed setting.  The House is on Saturday at 6 PM.

 

Q:  What are your hours?

A:  The church building is open an hour and a half before and after services. We're also open during the regular business hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday and for scheduled events during the week. If you have a crisis and need to reach us after hours, you may call us at 501.758.8553 and listen to instructions to reach a pastor in an emergency.

 

Q:  What should I wear?

A:  You'll find a warm and welcoming environment where an array of dress styles can be found. You will see everything from jeans to business attire.  We want you to feel comfortable in whatever you choose to wear and focus instead on the message of Christ's love for you.

 

Q:  Do you have services for my children and teens?

A:  We design services for children, from birth through fifth grade, simultaneous to each of our weekend and Wednesday evening services. The services for students take place on Wednesday nights. For more information, please click on Kids or Students.

 

Q:  Is there a place where I can take my nursing baby during service?

A:  We have two mother’s rooms adjacent to the main auditorium on the main floor.  This rooms are cozy and quiet and have a video monitor where you can watch the service with your baby.  Please don't hesitate to ask any one our greeters to direct you to one of the Nursing Mother’s Rooms.   

 

Q:  How will I know if my baby needs me and is in the nursery?

A:  When you check your child in the nursery, you will receive a card with a number on it.  We have number boards below the side screens in the main auditorium.  If your child needs you, nursery workers will display this number.

 

Q:  Do you provide accommodations for those with special needs or disabilities during service?

A:  Wheelchair seating is available in our auditorium. For specific locations, please ask our greeters as you enter.

For our hard of hearing attendees, we offer a listening assistance system.  It runs on 104.5 FM and can be received by any walkman-type personal radio with headphones.

Our Deaf Church offers services for the hearing impaired, and ASL interpretation is also available.

 

Q: Do you offer any programs for special needs children?

A: Yes!  Check out COOL Kids.

 

Q: I have Spanish-speaking friends. Is there something for them at First Assembly?

A: Yes, currently we offer simultaneous Spanish translation of our 11:30 AM service.  It can be picked up on 103.1 FM on any personal radio.  You can also check out a radio and headphones from the information desk in the front lobby.

 

Q:  How can I get to know other people at First Assembly?

A:  While we may look like a crowd at first glance, we're really a church of small groups. The best way to get in smaller groups is through Sunday School.  We have a variety of classes for different age groups and interests.  Feel free to try them all until you find one that suits you.
