What is Share Your Lunch?
Arkansas is the hungriest state in America.
21.2% of households are at risk of hunger.
1 in 5 school children in Arkansas don’t have an adequate meal when they go home at night.
28.6% of Arkansas children are living in poverty.
At First Assembly, we’ve decided to do our part to make a difference. We’ve partnered with many of our local schools to help provide backpacks full of food for children every weekend. We currently are feeding over 300 kids each weekend. Here’s the deal:
- $5.10 feeds one kid for a weekend.
- $214.20 will feed one kid every weekend for the entire school year
- You can feed 1,000 kids for $5,100

When everyone does their part, together we can make a difference for thousands of hungry children!
How You Can Participate
This year, we are expanding our “Share Your Lunch” initiative. Every week, when you go to the grocery store, buy a little extra. Share your lunch. When you come to church, drop it in the large yellow “Share Your Lunch” collection bins that are at each of our main entrances. It would be awesome if everyone in our church brought something every week!
Also, we have a table in the lobby with bags of food on it and a sign letting people know that if they need food, they can take a bag of groceries. We are aware that there are those in our own church family who are food insecure. Many of them don’t ask or share their need - out of embarrassment, or because they don’t people to feel obligated. We want to help them and their family whenever they have a need. So, each week our “Share Your Lunch” teams will be collecting the food you bring, sorting and bagging it, and providing that food on our “Share Your Lunch” tables in the lobby. Together, we will make a difference for hundreds of hungry families!
